Our Story

Rise & Shine Wellness was inspired by our founder Katelyn. Over the years she has come to learn how important it is to be aware of all the different ways we put stress on our bodies. Between her own personal journey and observing past generations in her family, she was motivated to focus her energy on helping the community learn how to achieve a more relaxing, less-stressful lifestyle.

With 12 years of experience as a licensed massage therapist and 8 years as a certified wellness coach, Katelyn believes there are a variety of daily stressors in life that can hold us back from rising with ease and shining from within to live our best life. From sleeping to working and even our hobbies we are in constant motion.

She has learned how the connection between movements, thoughts, and feelings can play an important role when it comes to managing stress.  On a physical level, our body is made to move freely and without restriction. Mentally, our thoughts and behaviors control our daily habits. And our emotions trigger sensations in our bodies that put us into a state of survival (or relaxation)  depending on how stressed we are.

These stressors are all intertwined affecting how our bodies function, our minds process, and our emotions react. This is why Katelyn believes that any (or all) of these stressors can hold us back from achieving a happy healthy lifestyle.

Massage Therapy & Wellness Coaching experience

Focus

After graduating in 2010, I focused my career on delivering outstanding customer service while providing high-quality customized therapeutic massages. Most guests seek massage treatment to relieve present stressors that result in pain or discomfort. While addressing the current needs of the guest, I'm also considering past and potential stressors. I believe massage therapy can help relieve stress not only physically but mentally and emotionally as well.

As a Certified Wellness Coach, I am always striving to help others reach their individual goals on their overall wellness; and promote growth and professional development. With a good understanding of how the body moves and functions, I am fascinated to see how other dimensions of wellness play a role in our health and well-being. Everything is connected and can have different effects on the body physically through our everyday activities. My knowledge of the body, combined with achieving realistic goals, can help my guests improve their overall wellness.

History

Spa
Mario Tricoci Spa - Massage Therapist
In 2010, I decided to start my massage therapy career at Mario Tricoci Salon and Spa. Within 2 years I became a top performer at my location by providing outstanding customer service while providing high-quality customized therapeutic massages. On top of providing a variety of relaxing therapeutic massages, I also performed spa treatments such as body scrubs, body wraps, seaweed masks, and hand-applied tanning treatments. I helped train and educate new therapists on the massage protocols and traveled to other locations to train fellow therapists on new protocols the company wanted to launch. While working here I learned how to incorporate a variety of techniques together to provide a unique experience for each guest. Combining a clinical perspective with a relaxing guest experience, I enjoy helping my guests destress not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

Coaching
Certified Wellness Coach
I completed my certification in wellness coaching at the College of Lake County in 2014. I am always striving to help others reach their individual goals on their overall wellness and to promote individual growth and professional development. I enjoy sharing my knowledge on physical wellness including but not limited to, self-care and body awareness.

Chiropractic
Chiropractic Assistant - Massage Therapist
As a chiropractic assistant, I provided manual therapy for patients to reduce musculoskeletal pain and disability through kneading and manipulation of muscles, joint mobilization, and more. My focus was to treat soft tissue and joint structures to modulate pain; increase range of motion (ROM); reduce or eliminate soft tissue inflammation; induce relaxation; improve contractile and non-contractile tissue repair, extensibility, and/or stability; facilitate movement, and improving function.
